Daily Duties at Rinker Materials Corporation Hydro Conduit Division:
In this role I administered company manufacturing safety, fleet safety and human resources functions at Rinker’s Washington, IA and Buffalo (Davenport) IA facilities. This included the following activities on a daily/regular basis: 1.) Completion of safety and environmental compliance inspections and behavioral safety audits. Creation of inspection reports and presention of corrective action plans to plant managers and production foremen. 2.) Assessment of safety training needs, development of training materials, and methods and delivery of training to production staff, foremen, quality control staff, office workers and plant managers. Evaluation of training effectiveness. 3.) Development and implementation of plant safety programs and special safety initiatives including but not limited to, job safety analysis, personal protective equipment, hazard communication/MSDS, emergency action plans, mobile equipment safety training, lock-out/tag-out (energy isolation), confined space entry, crane operations, fall protection, behavioral safety, DOT/FMCSR compliance, fire protection, environmental management and the implementation of coporate specialty hazard programs. 4.) Coordination and tracking of the completion and billing of production work orders and coordination and tracking of vehicle/equipment maintenance costs through the use of SAP software. 5.) Leadership of plant safety committees in order to raise safety awarenes and improve safety culture in boththe Washington and Buffalo plants. Recruitment, selection, and training of committee members. Planning of safety committee activiies and meetings. 6.) Coordination of Human Resource functions for the Washington and Buffalo Iowa plants including but not limited to benefit administrator activities, evaluation, presentation, explanation and selection of benefit plans, interviewing, selection, orientation of production staff. Administration of employee evaluation process for production staff, drivers and line supervisors. 7.) Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including the interviewing and selection of drivers, coordination of DOT regulated paperwork and drug and alcohol testing programs, delivery of driver related safety training, interfacing with dispatcher to ensure proper safety protocols were followed, analysis of hours of service and employee physical records. 8.) Administration of claims reporting and claims management process including root cause incident investigation, administration of the post-accident drug/alcohol testing program, administration of the return to work program, and the creation and implementation of corrective action plans. 9.) Performance of environmental duties including Tier II reporting, creation and implementation of storm water management plans including permitting and testing, creation and implementation of the spill control and countermeasure plan, air permitting and testing, etc. 10.) Participation in Rinker Materials corporate regional safety audit program. This entailed traveling to other production facilities and performing corporate safety audits, and meeting with plant managers to present recommendations.
