Developed and improved client relations, advancing to increasingly complex subjects and substantial dollar exposures. Specialized in personal injury, insurance defense and business litigation. Supervised and trained 7 employees and served on the firm's management committee. Tried 15 cases to verdict, 3 appeals and handled 650 cases to conclusion. Saved an oil-field casing failure case on the brink of dismissal by developing evidence that tied the Greek manufacturer to Texas, achieving a six-figure award that was upheld on appeal and enforcing judgment with simultaneous litigation in Texas and Greece that restricted distribution and forced settlement. Represented a large health insurer against a hospital claim of negligent misrepresentation related to verification of benefits retroactively terminated by employer after date of admission, defending in federal and state courts on issues including ERISA preemption to achieve directed verdict. Represented an oil field operations consultant in a case involving 20 parties and multiple claims arising from a well blowout, deposing more than 40 witnesses, producing thousands of documents to mitigate liability and ultimately settling for minimal value on the eve of a trial that would have lasted 20 days. Obtained jury verdict for a cardiologist sued by another cardiologist for defamation related to qualifications to perform angioplasty. Achieved certification by Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a Specialist in Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law, a distinction held by less than 10% of all civil litigators in Texas.
