Daily Duties at Us Geological Survey:

Research professional literature on World Wide Web using Agricola, BioOne, Biological Abstracts, EBISCO and Web of Knowledge. Maintaining and archiving database and paper files of professional literature documents using endnotes and Microsoft word. Assist and coordinate with research scientists on Mojave Desert Open File Report (“Monitoring ecosystem quality and function in the Mojave Desert”). Prepared and assimilated program book for 3rd Mojave Desert Science Symposium; including building index in Microsoft word. Count seeds using a microscope and other magnification devices to conduct plant ecology experiment on seed allelopathy between native and invasive Mojave Desert annuals, enter results into Microsoft Excel database; sort roots from soils in a greenhouse experiment on soil compaction effects on Mojave Desert plants; weighted dried plants collected from the field and entered data into Microsoft Excel. Format literature cited documents according to specifications of multiple scientific journals. Any other duties requested by supervisor.
