Daily Duties at Hewlett Packard:

ASIC Design Department Manager 1999 – 2001 Led a team of 11 ASIC laser printer design engineers in development of system on a chip ASIC’s with embedded microprocessors. These chips supported the analog control of the laser printer and provided interfaces including USB, high-speed communication ports and other proprietary interfaces. Tools used in the design included Verilog, Synopsis, Primetime, Microsoft project, Matlab, Excel and other ASIC management design tools. · Coordinated research and development teams and led all ASIC system and circuit design activities. The final product was an application-specific, integrated circuit (ASIC) ink jet controller with results of 95% functionality at first silicon and 100% functionality at second silicon. Assisted buyers and technical evaluators in ASIC procurement activities and contract negotiations. Conducted design reviews, vender ASIC development process management, ASIC evaluation and manufacturing integration. Minimized risk and cost, while optimizing schedule and product speed performance. Tools used Microsoft project manager, Excel, Matlab, C++, Verilog, timining analsys, osillscopes, spectrum analyzers, arbitray waveform generators. Senior ASIC Design Engineer 1993 – 1999 Led the development and circuit design of a variety of CMOS mixed-signal recording channels on a chip ASIC’s including definition for disk drive recording channels, design and testing. The results were the computer-verified-prediction of 3 decibel gain in signal-to-noise ratio improvement for this unique recording channel. HP shut down the division so the channel never made it to market.ACIC tools used were the taditional Matlb, C++, Excel,Verilog, etc. Received two signal processing patents and published a IEEE paper based on the performance characterization. · Led the development of Hewlett Packard’s LTO 100 gigabyte tape backup analog / digital high bandwidth signal processing ASIC. The key focus of placing four recording channels on a single chip while maximizing shared-on-chip systems was accomplished as well as improving signal-to-noise ratio minimizing power. HP shut down the tape drive division so the channel never made it to market.
