Daily Duties at Seagate Technology:

Evaluated Vendor signal processing recording channels ASIC technology and assisted in and computer simulated optimization and bench level ASIC verification. Assisted design engineers in the development and evaluation of new recording channel signal processing integrated circuits including a variety of PRML channels. · Project leader for the development of recording channel ASIC’s utilizing partial response-maximum likelihood technology. Coordinated the development of the channel application engineering activities as well as ASIC performance studies. · Performed error performance comparison studies between different vendor recording read / write channels and our own decoding algorithms using playback signals from disk drive products and arbitrary signal generators with very specific signal anomalies. These studies were done while stressing linear data, track densities, read-write block operating points, different pulse targets, VGA sensitivity studies. Also included power consumption vs. performance trade offs, ADC performance, white and pink noise injection studies and FIR and IIR filter optimizations methodologies.
