Daily Duties at Apa Of Madison:
Monitored and implemented human resources policies and performed personnel management for 300+ 24/7 personnel Security Service Company. Coordinated and conducted new employee orientation processing. Evaluated existing work environment, provided analysis of needs and implemented policies and initiatives to address personnel and management issues. Reviewed compensation structure and provided advice/guidance on restructuring employee pay rates, bonuses and incentives according to state, federal and company guidelines. Managed and executed merit systems, employment code of ethics, layoffs, probation for employees and limited term employment contracts. Researched and administrated a changeover from a probationary work format to an at-will employee format. Defined job descriptions and drafted guidelines for hiring and job qualification. Monitored performance appraisal schedules, reviewed appraisals for accuracy, gathered information for awards and ensured timely submission. Initiated worker’s compensation, unemployment insurance, equal opportunity, employee health and safety, performance appraisals, staff reduction, training, diversity, compliance, organization design programs and put into place new employee benefits, such as life insurance, short term disability, long term disability, critical illness, chronic illness, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, pre-paid legal insurance, a college funding program, and a 401k Plan. Investigated grievances and coordinated with the Department of Workforce Development, attorneys and the U.S. Department of Labor, resulting in 98% favorable results for the company. Presented compensation; retention; leadership development; compliance; strategic planning and benefit meetings to Executive Team members. Accomplishments: Pursued and acquired a $300k security contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Promoted to Executive Status after first year. Restructured the Human Resources Department and all procedures to include bringing worker’s compensation program into full compliance. Instituted preferred providers list and trained managers and associates on procedures to follow in case of injury. Wrote employee manual covering issues including disciplinary procedures, code of conduct, FMLA policy and benefits information. Introduced independent benefit coverage (success rate of 90%) to all employees as costs increased nationwide. Managed/Supervised and developed Administrative Staff of 10 employees. Expediently resolved all inherited Grievance cases to include representing organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations. Reconfigured compensation structure throughout for compliance with Federal and State laws. Co-developed company’s standardized disciplinary procedures and tracking systems that insulated company from legal risk and ensured consistent and fair discipline processes. Revised job descriptions across all levels. “Shadowed” and interviewed employees to construct an accurate picture of the duties and skills required for each position. Evaluated and streamlined training agenda, creating more effective and efficient methods.
