Daily Duties at Tlc The Legislative Center:
• Set up meetings, travel arrangements, scheduling and executing multiple projects such as social events, conferences, conventions, trade shows, board and committee meetings, and develop Continuing Education Programs. • Coordinated the office’s administrative activities; storing, retrieving, and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients. • Researched, prepared and upgraded computer system and programs to enhance the effectiveness of the clerical, printing, travel agency and accounting staff. • Increased sales by 30% by centralizing travel needs of team members to go through the in-house travel agency. • Renegotiated all contracts with vendors by creating the criteria of what rates the company would accept allowing for incremental increases. End result was the reduction of expenses by 25% for travel, printing, insurance, prepaid health programs and supplies. • Human Resources – develop and implement policies, provide leadership in the areas of personnel, payroll, and staff training. Recruited, hired, and trained new employees as well as maintained detailed records on health benefits, safety records, investigations and discharges. • Negotiated, and implemented benefits for healthcare, 401K, temporary disability and unemployment insurance. • Provided guidance for employers and employees pertaining to benefits offered, eligibility and participation. • Created Employee Sourcebook outlining policies and procedures, including benefits, compensation plans, and continuing education benefits. • Prepared and presented multiple training modules including orientation, management training, and solutions based customer service techniques for small businesses in Hawaii and the neighbor islands. • Introduced the use of emotional intelligence skills to create positive and productive relationships as well as enhance organizational performance. • Successfully planned and administered educational programs which were accepted by the state educational system, labor unions and regulatory agencies. • Enhanced efficiency and reduced costs by conceptualizing and implementing a restructuring policy that better utilized human resource capital. • Created innovative benefit package that met the needs of employees, was cost effective and affordable and complied with local, state and federal laws and regulations. • Successfully negotiated labor contracts for construction trade industry specifically subcontractors. • Creatively worked with OSHA to substantially reduce or in some cases eliminate fines levied on safety issues by the affirmative defense theory. • Through strategic planning and renegotiation reduced overall company expenses on prepaid health insurance, and supplies by 35%.
