Daily Duties at Brigham And Women's Hospital:
I managed nerve regeneration projects for the Laboratory of Tissue Regeneration. Utilizing molecular biology and protein assay techniques in experimental design and execution, I maintained host cell lines for infection with HSV vector, inserted novel DNA sequences containing genes of interest into the HSV genome, assayed for expression of target proteins via SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, and ELISA. I am accomplished in small animal microsurgery and trained staff in the skills required to perform microsurgery with exceptional precision and efficiency. Treated mice with HSV vector through sciatic nerve injection using stereotaxic methods and extracted nerve tissue for analysis. I was solely responsible for the creation and implementation of the laboratory’s first BWH and IACUC approved microsurgery room.
What they like about Brigham And Women's Hospital:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
