Daily Duties at United States Navy:

Directly supervised up to 21 personnel at a time, varying between mechanical, electrical, electronics, and shiphandling trades. Served in a supervisory capacity to over 200 personnel. Responsible for ensuring compliance with preventative maintenance schedules and instructions, managing personal dilemmas of subordinates, and coordinating corrective upkeep of the ship and its equipment. Routinely bore sole responsibility for the safety of a multi-billion dollar nuclear submarine and its 220 personnel. Responsible for supervision of maintenance for Quality Assurance and for providing feedback. ➢ Combated numerous ship’s casualties, including fires, toxic gas spills, and losses of electrical power ➢ Singled out by ship’s engineer as one of the top shutdown propulsion plant supervisors. ➢ Personally directed a team of evening-shift plant operators through a full day’s worth of propulsion plant evolutions in one shift every day for over a month. ➢ Selected out of 40+ officers and senior enlisted to serve as Equal Opportunity Manager. Raised the crew’s sensitivity to EO related issues through training, surveys, and re-training, resulting in no formal grievances filed between crew members. ➢ Trained and qualified nuclear propulsion plant operators to properly operate and maintain the reactor and propulsion plants. ➢ Hand-selected to train the crew on the concept and application of Operational Security and its potential effects on the ship’s and Navy’s missions. ➢ Guided numerous subordinates to pursue continuing education and to further their personal/professional development. ➢ Praised personally by the Commanding Officer for superior administrative and management skills. ➢ Developed excellent administrative and production management skills, which were instrumental in the successful completion of a 3-year, ~$800M reactor refueling and ship overhaul. Praised by shipyard employees and fellow officers for exceptional efficiency, results-oriented motivation, and willingness to provide assistance in off-duty time to support production. ➢ Praised by peers and superiors for abilities to locate discrepancies involving non-compliance or questionable safety.
