Daily Duties at Kennecott Energy:
Primary responsibilities included management and implementation of the predictive and preventative maintenance programs at Antelope Mine. Responsibilities included revamping an Oil Analysis Program and creating a mine wide Oil Cleanliness program, setting up an IR Program and selecting an Infrared Camera. Assisted in selection of an improved Oil Analysis Lab to provide superior data in a much more timely fashion. Assisted in design of a lube truck design that proved ISO cleanliness improvements from bulk storage to the end point application. Managed the application and data associated with outside Vibrational Analysis providers. Oversaw equipment teardowns and performed in depth failure analysis. Performed in depth RCA’s for the mines Safety Department as well as the Maintenance Department. Spent six months on a Business Improvement Project which found the root cause too many issues including haul truck frame cracking at a sister mine. Promoted to Support Planning Supervisor for KEC/RTEA in May of 2004. Employing Reliability Techniques to improve the availability of the Support fleet of over 100 pieces of large Cat (D-10, D-11, 16H, 24H, 637, 992, etc.), Komatsu (PC600, PC1800, etc.) and LeTourneau (L1800 and L1850’s) mining equipment as well as standardizing PM practices. Made a continued effort to reduce in house “rebuilds” as these are often a waste of time, money and often suffered short lives/poor reliability. In-house expertise, tooling and equipment are very hard to maintain and justify on some components.
What they like about Kennecott Energy:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
