$6M global manufacturer of industrial packaging machinery serving the flexible packaging industry with six world-class production facilities in the U.S., Australia, England, Japan, Brazil, and The Netherlands. Service Manager Directed all facets of field service operations, including installation/configuration of capital equipment, maintenance, troubleshooting/repair, and training. Traveled extensively (50%) between job sites to diagnose technical issues, assess scope of work, and determine pricing. Supported sales personnel by evaluating customer facilities, recommending upgrades/conversions, and presenting costs/benefits analyses to customers. Managed 11 field service technicians; controlled a $1M annual budget, with oversight for purchasing of supplies and equipment. ·Took over leadership of a dysfunctional service organization and transformed it into a high-performing, collaborative, and results-driven unit with marked gains in revenue, cost, productivity, and profitability. -Grew department revenues 28% by streamlining operations, enhancing efficiency, and leading staff to produce at maximum capacity, creating opportunity to take on more service work. -Cut expenses 22% by revamping scheduling processes to improve resource/manpower allocation and instituting tighter spending restrictions for travel and related controllable expenses. -Curbed warranty costs 32% by leveraging extensive industry experience to rapidly recognize and diagnose issues, as well as deploy the appropriate technical resources and personnel. -Influenced a shift in staff thinking, effectively replacing prior attitudes of apathy and lackadaisicalness into an overall mindset focused on ramping up productivity and delivering solid results. ·Developed company’s first-ever formal customer-training program—tailored to needs—not only establishing a new revenue stream but providing significantly enhanced value to customer base. ·Singlehandedly led development of the “Slider” program for integration with thermoform systems, creating a new application for the company’s flagship product that added $38M in new revenues over three years.
