Daily Duties at Daimler Chrysler Corporation St. Louis South Assembly Plant:
- As the Data Analyst; I tracked and reported, in the corporate database, the monthly quality trend to the Plant Manager, 3 Center Manager’s. The data was reviewed by the CEO, CFO, President, and four Executive Vice Presidents - Arranged a monthly conference calls to cover the data. - Created weekly, monthly and yearly reports on warranty and customer satisfaction surveys, distributed reports to 10 executives. - Effectively handled satisfied and dissatisfied customer inquires. - Spoke to customers on the phone in distress due to their vehicle in the shop at the dealership needing some work that wasn't being covered under warranty. Gathering all the information from the customer along with a call back number to reach them with a promise to call with sometime of information within 1 hour. I communicated with the dealership regarding the customer's distress. Positively, 1 out of every 25 calls I received every two months, the issue was resolved and the customer was a customer for life. - I followed up with each customer within a month regarding their issue, I composed a thank you letter for their call and/or concerns, which was signed by the Plant Manager. - As the Quality Supervisor for the certification line; I was responsible for 30 to 80 UAW inspectors; checking their workstation computers, make sure the tools necessary to perform their jobs were in place, going over each job making sure it was covered when the chimes rang for the line to start, dealing with grievances, safety issues, kept track of their time: OT/vacation/sick/tardy/lunch break. - I successfully ran the Certification Line (they referred as the “bread & butter” line, the minivans where shipped at the end of this line). - A fast-paced environment approving 75 to 92 minivans per hour. The #1 priority was employee safety and #2 priority was to keep the line running producing a quality product. - Our daily build was 592 in 8 hours, should the line break, overtime was necessary to make up for the lost units. - If this was necessary, I would have to canvass the number inspectors to get the job done in the minimum amount of time. There was a document to follow when canvassing was necessary and it was part of the UAW policies and procedures book. - I was personally accountable for any vehicle that was not shipped due to a defect. When more than two vehicles were turned down due to quality, a call was made to the Plant Manager and he made a visit to the area responsible for the defect. - Once a week, my team of 30 had a 15 minute town hall; I communicated safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale, core values, areas of improvement then closing the meetings with a Q & A session. - When necessary, Labor Relations would make a visit, resulting in difficult decisions.
What they like about Daimler Chrysler Corporation St. Louis South Assembly Plant:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
