Daily Duties at Terracon Consultants, Inc.:
•Due Diligence Assessments – Southeastern U.S.: Perform various due diligence assessments (Phase I ESAs) involving real estate property transfers; telecommunications tower site assessments; commercial, residential, and industrial site property acquisitions. Project duties include site inspections, historical reviews, operations/processes evaluations, sample collection (asbestos and lead paint), data interpretation, and report writing. •Waters of the U.S. and Wetland Delineations – Southeastern U.S. & MI: Identify and mark/flag U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) jurisdictional waters of the U.S., including wetland areas, to avoid impacts from development on various-sized land parcels. •USACE Permitting – Southeastern U.S.: Coordinate and submit USACE Jurisdictional Determination requests to USACE Regional offices. Submit Pre-Construction Notification (PCN) for Nationwide Permits (NWPs) in accordance with NWP requirements, condition requirements, and NWP regional conditions. •State Waters Assessments – Georgia: Identify streams, wetlands, and other drainage features that might be considered state waters as defined in the Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Act of 1975, as amended, county ordinances, and/or municipality ordinances. •Asbestos Surveys – Southeastern U.S.: Perform asbestos sampling activities on buildings scheduled for demolition and/or renovation in compliance with the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) and state regulations. Identify, assess, and sample suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACM) to evaluate condition and quantity of the material. •Threatened and Endangered Species Surveys – Southeastern U.S.: Perform surveys for U.S. Fish and Wildlife (USFWS) federally and state-listed threatened species, endangered species, and critical habitats according to federal and/or state requirements to assist clients in determining impacts to species and/or critical habitats from proposed development. Coordinate with the appropriate regional USFWS office and state agencies to ensure adherence with federal and state regulations and/or requirements. •ARCHIE Modeling: Perform modeling, using the Automated Resource for Chemical Hazard Incident Evaluation software developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), USDOT, and USEPA, to assess the potential zone of impact resulting from a release of a flammable hazardous chemical and/or petroleum product. •Probability Analyses: Perform probability analyses to determine the potential occurrence of a specific event, such as a fatal accident associated with a natural gas pipeline, in a specific geographical area. SPCC Plans and SWPP Plans – Southeastern U.S. and Puerto Rico: Performed SPCC Plan inspections and reports for facilities required to be in compliance with the EPA Oil Pollution Prevention Rule (40 CFR Part 112) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
