Daily Duties at Dow Chemical Corporation:

1) Reduced maintenance costs to 2% of replacement asset base ($600 million in fourth quarter 1996) by eliminating “dead” inventory and implementing PM “SWAT” teams that focused strictly on preventive maintenance. This increased equipment up-time by 17%. 2) Wrote and delivered operating and safety procedures for the “Do Maintenance Process” 3) Supervised 52 skilled trade employee’s 4) Responsible for benchmarking several Dow facilities in Europe. I gained knowledge of their High Performance Work Teams (TPM) process. Implemented those learning’s in the Ion-Exchange section resulting in elimination of one layer of management by driving down the decision making process to the front line level. 5) Supervised 75 operating employees and 52 skilled trade employees (Steelworkers union) 6)  Co-authored and published a paper on “Efficacy of Herbicides on Woody Plant Tissue” 7) Was responsible for benchmarking different styles of growth chambers that were going to be used in woody plant tissue growth and the purchase of the most cost effective and efficient style. This resulted in completing 5 years of growth cycles and efficacy testing in one year. The end result was the herbicide was able to be released to consumers 3 years ahead of schedule. 8) Was responsible for “on-time” greenhouse and field plant tissue growth for herbicide/insecticide efficacy testing purposes 9) Facilitated contract negotiations between the Steelworkers Union and management for the Dow Agriculture Farm Department
