Daily Duties at Valley Care Health System:
VICE PRESIDENT OF OUTPATIENT SERVICES AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT Recruited to reorganize and increase the efficiency of fragmented outpatient services, and establish roster of diverse programs to increase revenue, enrollment, and recognition as one-stop medical services provider of choice. Directed (and in many cases initiated) all outpatient programs including physical medicine, sports medicine, occupational health, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, home care, school health centers, wellness clinics, alternative healthcare, integrated medical and fitness centers, orthopedic programs, outpatient clinics, retail health clinics, telemedicine distance medical solutions, and bariatric surgery. Spearheaded development of innovative programs including LifeStyleRx, mobile van, sports conditioning, and retail health services that generated significant income and high volume of surgical and inpatient referrals. * Transformed struggling physical therapy program from an average of 150 visits per month to a high of 5,000 visits monthly, and boosted revenues from a few million dollars to $25M+. * Devised, marketed, and grew entrepreneurial cash businesses that were not reliant on third-party payers. * Started up Sports Medicine Division and negotiated lucrative contracts with five local high schools to provide full-time athletic trainers and game-day physicians. Established bumps & bruises clinics and sports conditioning, performance, and injury-prevention programs that trained 400+ local amateur and professional athletes. * Designed and built 70,000 sq. ft. integrated medical fitness facility (LifeStyleRx) in 2003 that offered wellness, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, physical therapy, personal training, and weight-loss services. Pulled in combination of insurance payments for medical programs and private-pay dues for personal memberships. Converted 30% of patients to private memberships with 9,500+ members. * Established student health services programs at two area community colleges, serving more than 25,000 students with 200+ visits a day. * Extended medical care to underserved rural communities through a mobile health clinic. * Initiated telemedicine program with hands-on care from nurse practitioners and electronic, real-time supervision from physicians. * Started osteoporosis awareness and treatment program and promoted baseline evaluations for aging population in the community. * Created first bariatric surgery program in the San Francisco Bay area with 1,200 patients seen since 2000. Earned ASMBS Center of Excellence distinction. * Wrote application and received award from the California Association for Professional Excellence. * Set up partnership and negotiated contract with Walmart for drop-in retail clinics. * Revitalized floundering occupational health program, growing patient volume from 200 to 1,500 visits monthly at two clinics (opened second site). Developed relationships and profitable cash business with 4,000 local businesses for health and drug screenings, wellness and accident-prevention programs, ergonomic worksite assessments, travel vaccinations, health fairs, and smoking cessation and weight management programs. * Generated more than $500,000 for ValleyCare by providing consulting services to three area hospitals.
