Daily Duties at Barthol Design Associates, P.C.:

During my tenure at BDA I was employed as the Land Planning Supervisor. My duties as the Land Planning Supervisor were extensive and include such responsibilities as: project negotiations between local municipalities, local elected officials, and developers; project manager for rezoning and special use requests; development of conceptual plans, preliminary engineering plans, master land use plans, and economic development plans; creating and reviewing environmental impact statements; and development of resource management plans. Furthermore, I was also responsible for creating project proposals, preparing and managing project budgets, project marking, grant writing, and funding administration. I also successfully prepared a number of grant applications for both non-profit organizations and government entities. I worked on a wide variety of projects, including: commercial developments, residential subdivisions, recreational facilities, resource management, traffic impact studies, and community revitalization projects. As a result, I have reviewed and created countless Plan of Development (POD) applications, site plans, subdivision plans, and transportation plans. I also developed a number of economic development plans and strategic plans for local municipalities and civic associations, including: the Brookland Park Boulevard Commercial Revitalization Plan (Coauthored), the Drakes Branch Economic Revitalization Plan, the Jefferson Davis Streetscape Improvement Plan, and the Brodnax, Virginia Economic Development Plan.
