Daily Duties at Duke Energy:

Woodsdale – Part-time ▪ Acquiring knowledge of the common failures on a combustion turbine. ▪ Assisted in the management of a combustion turbine overhaul on part-time. W.H. Zimmer – Co-op ▪ Designed and installed a high pressure piping system to ASME specification B31.1. ▪ Collected bids for installation and decided best contractor for job. ▪ Managed installation and testing of piping system. ▪ Provided updates through emails and meeting about project status. ▪ Ran economic analysis for piping project. ▪ Worked with planners to schedule work. ▪ Completed project and it is being used today. ▪ Engineered more efficient pulley ratio for Reclaim Belt feeders. ▪ Assisted in management and installation process for gas recirculation fan rotor. ▪ Assisted with project management processes for the installation of a boiler outage. ▪ Created inspection punch-lists for boiler repairs and tracked completion of critical items. ▪ Procured materials for turbine, boiler and CPVC repair and installation projects. ▪ Oil sampling and analysis of turbine lube oil. Miami Fort- Co-op ▪ Assisted Senior Engineer with management of boiler outage, gained experience and familiarity of boiler operations process and maintenance of unit. ▪ Gained experience in planning/coordination of project by working with project engineers. ▪ Observed installation and inspection of new boiler burners. ▪ Designed and managed installation of temperature ports for primary air ducts. ▪ Ordered materials for boiler outage. ▪ Updated supervisors daily on progress of boiler work. ▪ Conducted various thermodynamic performance tests at Duke Energy power plant sites. ▪ Collected data on mill and burner performance and was able to recommend solutions. ▪ Collected data on vibrations and oil samples.
