Daily Duties at Bio Catalytics, Inc.:
Produced synthetic and diagnostic enzymes from natural and ‘engineered' genes in batch/fed-batch systems to the 20L fermenter-scale. Conducted downstream processing, characterization and purification of select proteins using column chromatography, PEI & ammonium sulfate fractionation, ultra/tangential-flow filtration, IEX, FPLC and SDS-PAGE. Evaluated production efficiency of expressed enzymes through qualitative and quantitative methods of soluble and insoluble fractions using PAGE visualization and activity assays. Worked in Sales and Quality Assurance as a technical expert providing key support for clients and potential customers on proprietary molecules, enzymes and applications.
