Daily Duties at James Tower, Inc.:

I built and maintained and troubleshot HP and Dell database servers running Microsoft Windows 2003 Server operation systems and SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 database management systems. Database sizes ranged from the hundred MB to 150–250 GB. Many customers were e-commerce with OLTP. I created and maintained database maintenance plans on the SQL Servers using native SQL and LiteSpeed. I developed, troubleshot and maintained SSIS packages (e.g. adding and deleting columns; changing column data types and widths; changing data sources). Manually created, backed-up and restored databases using both native SQL and LiteSpeed. I promoted both database objects and data between databases (Development to Beta Testing to Production) using RedGate SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare tools.

What they like about James Tower, Inc.:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
