Daily Duties at University Of Pennsylvania:
• Developed theoretical foundation for Phosphorescence Lifetime Imaging of novel quantitative methods for 3D visualization of oxygen pressure in biological tissues, investigating feasibility, contrast and resolution of the method. • Adapted the theory of light propagation in highly scattering media (P1 approximation of the Radiative Transfer Equation) and developed solutions of the diffusion and telegraph equations for different boundary geometries using the Finite Element Method. Studied dependence of the solutions on the mesh size and time step; estimated stability of different time-stepping schemes. • Coded software for data analysis of experimental measurements (C++). • Developed and coded algorithms for solution of the inverse problem in phosphorescence imaging using regularization techniques, e.g. the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM) and robust statistics (M-estimator), studied resolution and accuracy of the methods. • Studied simultaneous recovery of several unknown parameters (coefficients in PDE's) for different types of boundary conditions. • Conducted experimental 3D oxygen imaging experiments in model systems. • Led statistical analysis (SAS, Origin, Matlab) of experimental data. • Developed and coded algorithms for image processing in PLI (denoising, segmentation, deconvolution) in Matlab. • Studied resolution of phosphorescence lifetime tomography based on Singular Value Decomposition theory and numerical simulations.
What they like about University Of Pennsylvania:
Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action.
