Daily Duties at Blockbuster Video:
As the store manager of Blockbuster Video, I hired store employees, trained employees, did the weekly paperwork including payroll and cash audit reporting, ordered movies and made special store displays. Within a year I had increased the store staff from 2 to 11 employees with 0 turn-over. In addition, while under my management, my crew and I made record sales and won numerous store to store contests on video and candy sales. We became among the top rated stores in our district as well as company-wide, based on customer satisfaction and Secret Shopper ratings. Our store inventory shrinkage dropped off steeply and new and active memberships skyrocketed. The store made a solid profit and was in the black for the first time in several years. Everyday offered a welcomed challenge. Although I received top marks from my district manager for my performance, he was not authorized to give me the pay increase that either one of us thought I had earned. The low pay forced me to find more profitable employment.
