I was hired at the Charles Machine Works, AKA Ditch Witch, as an Inventory Planner. The job description had detailed how the job was very interactive and was said to be about 25% shop time and 75% office time, and always busy. While I found the overall business interesting and the manufacturing line to be impressive, I felt unrewarded and unchallenged in my duties. For 2 months I learned SAP and planned the raw materials inventory. After about a month I was able to complete my work in the first hour or two of my day, leaving the rest of the time to try and find something to do to occupy myself. I discovered that the position was primarily a data entry position and I am too much of a creative, hands-on person for this type of work. I left this position voluntarily to pursue other opportunities.
