Daily Duties at Nationwide Insurance Company:
Turnaround opportunity with personal lines property claims. Managed 50+ employees with over 7 direct reports. Started in position 10 weeks after Hurricane Katrina. Homeowner CAT operation had only settled 10% of customer claims by that time. Over my first 90 days, I reallocated resources and brought productivity of the CAT operation to over 80% of customer claims settled with over $7.3 million in homeowner loss payments. Renegotiated fees, services and investigative parameters with construction experts and regional SIU department regarding large loss homeowner fire claims. After 8 months, this resulted in a reduction of a combined savings in loss cost and ALE cost of over $990,000. Designed a cross-functional training program to train Casualty claims professionals from other departments to handle and adjust roof claims during Texas hail seasons. Serviced 63% more catastrophe claims than prior year with no addition to field staff, and resolved claims with a 40% faster cycle time and reducing allocated loss expenses by $400,000 compared to prior year.
