Daily Duties at Rotary International:
Acted as system and database administrator (DBA) on team, controlling technology stack, including OS, applications, web, middle, and database, storage, for PeopleSoft Financials and human resources, custom web and desktop-based in-house membership code, and third-party applications utilizing databases. Administered Websphere 4 for Peoplesoft Web Application. Served as database administrator on extensive PeopleSoft Financials upgrade from version 7.5 to 8.4, from desktop clients to web-based infrastructure, over several months and earned recognition of written commendation for dedication to project. Worked with 60 databases. Converted Oracle databases from SUN to IBM AIX pSeries, increasing performance gains and reducing technical support costs. Upgraded corporate website from ISP to in-house Linux servers, directly resulting in $24,000 in annual savings and providing better service and performance. Implemented PeopleSoft HR (WebSphere 5.1) and scripted resume virus scanning. Managed projects coordinating selection processes of software packages, implementing software solutions and estimating developer resources based on project scope. Established standards and consistency in security best practices, server builds, and database coding guidelines. Developed systems for deploying file changes, running database scripts extracted from source control, broadcasting email, and processing inbound email. Integrated Open Source software packages and wrote scripts, enabling hands-off production-to-test database refreshes, and provided network service monitoring.
