Daily Duties at The Vanguard Group:

1995 – 2005 The Vanguard Group – Valley Forge, PA Technical Lead – Retail Desktop Environments – 2000-2005 Supervised a group of 8-10 crew members in Retail Environments in which we packaged and deployed software to all Vanguard Retail desktops (Production, Test, Training and Hotsite) through quarterly elevations as well as other planned and unplanned elevations and rescues. • Packaged and supervised the packaging of over 190 different software applications in WISE which were deployed to 8,000 Retail Business desktops as well as to 350+ test desktops. • Worked with various IT developers to coordinate application changes and plans for elevation to production. • Coordinated and worked with members of the various Vanguard Business areas as well as Technical Operations, developers, managers and other crew members. • Created and also supervised the creation of SMS install scripts used for test and production software elevations. • Supervised the Configuration Management process for all applications supported by our team in PVCS Version Manager. • Responsible for troubleshooting desktops when issues were reported by testers and developers as well as supporting other group members during all testing phases up to production. • Supervised the maintenance of 350 Retail test lab PCs which included PC rebuilds and software distribution through automation. • Participated in the rollout of various operating systems. • Worked with Technical Operations to create testing and production builds which were used in the test and production environments. • Supported integration and regression testing cycles. • Troubleshooted Windows Operating System issues. • During early part of the position, I was responsible for implementing and creating all of the processes and procedures as well as workflow and scripting that I became a lead of in the above statements Information Systems Engineer – Year 2000 Project – 1998-2000 • Created and setup PVCS version manager projects for 190+ Business applications. • Worked with developers to identify and correct Year 2000 issues. • Responsible for creating desktop builds for various groups where applications were tested for year 2000 issues. • Worked with various groups to create a test bed where the time was forwarded to the year 2000. This allowed for a more accurate testing environment, prior to the century change. • Worked with Technical Operations to create new desktop builds and deploy them to Time forwarded multiple Year 2000 desktop environments. • Worked with Technical Operations to ensure all desktop builds worked properly and met strict measures for testing. • Supported all Year 2000 testing cycles. • Created Scripts for SMS deployments to special Year 2000 environments. Information Systems Engineer – Address Change- IWS – 1997-1998 • Worked on a development team for an application called “Address Change” which was part of Vanguard Intelligent Workstation software. • Responsible for working through all phases of the System Development Life Cycle. • Developed components of the application using Application Manager for the OS/2 operating system. Information Systems Engineer – Personal Financial Services – 1995-1997 • Responsible for application development in the Personal Financial Services (PFS) division of Vanguard using Sql Gupta. This application was used to provide estate guidance for investors. • Responsible for managing an automated reporting function of the system that was triggered by financial rules set forth by the Vanguard Business area in which the reports were created and sent to large Vanguard shareholders.
