Daily Duties at Johnson Matthey Catalysts:

Research and Technology  In house R&D: development and application of novel catalysts in metal-catalyzed organic reactions.  Proven track record in knowledge of state of the art inventions in the area of organic synthesis via catalysis, in generating scientific data for numerous patents and publications, and collaborating with patent attorneys to draft patent applications.  First and corresponding author of one of the most accessed articles in 2008 in the American Chemical Society’s Organic Process and Research Development.  Technical expertise in marketing new commercial products generated from new product and process development. Product/Process Development for the Manufacturing of Ligands and Catalysts  Initiated the process development of precious metal catalysts and chiral ligands with successful transfers to pilot plant and production stages, which led to more efficient and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.  Contributed to multi-million dollar division revenue by implementing multi-kilogram scale production of novel precious metal compounds through project management and process development.  Coordinated with chemical engineers to develop and scale-up processes. Contract Research Projects  Generated product sales, and multiple project renewals through managing projects to customer specifications, budget, and time.  Project management of contract research projects: proposal writing for funding, technical discussions and presentations with customers from pharma/fine chemical industry.  Project renewals were the result of effective collaborations with customers (conference calls, reports, and presentations) and colleagues from different departments (US, UK, and India).  All projects successfully transferred to the customer through technology transfer and technical support. Quality Control / Environment and Health Safety/ Laboratory Management  Involved in facilities expansion/renovation: kaizen, planning, requests for funds, set-up new laboratory.  Participated in interviewing new laboratory personnel.  Trained technical staff on how to employ instrumentation (GC, HPLC, Biotage Endeavor, ChemScan HEL) and approach customer research projects.  Responsible for maintaining a safe laboratory environment.  Comply with ISO 9002 quality requirements.
