Daily Duties at Department Of Homeland Security :
As the Assistant Federal Security Director (AFSD) for Screening I was responsible for a staff of 175 Federal Screening Officers, Supervisors and Managers who conducted cargo, baggage and passenger security screening at the Albuquerque International (ABQ) and Santa Fe (SAF) Airport. This position also requires oversight of and administering Federal Laws, regulations and policy pertaining to the agency's aviation security programs. The work of the organization impacted all personnel at the airports. I exercised final authority for a full range of managerial responsibilities over the work force and airport staff. I made major decisions concerning significant internal and external program policy issues affecting the overall organization, such as promotion selections, process controls, writing performance criteria, management of operations and conducting administrative/managerial inquires and adjudications. Administer and enforce USC 6 & 49. (Contact Supervisor: Yes, Supervisor's Name: Mike Dewey, Supervisor's Phone: 505-298-2284)
What they like about Department Of Homeland Security :
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
