Daily Duties at Worcester Polytechnic Institute:

• Developed website to perform online user study to evaluate recommendation algorithms developed for Social Information Retrieval. Used HTML, Javascript and JSP for this. • Web Programming, Software Engineering, Compilers and Assembly Language Programming • Installed Mysql, Eclipse, JDK , Tomcat and configured the setup on my laptop and the server to host the website. • Migrated the application from laptop to server, including MySql, hosted the application for online access. • Implemented and Evaluated all the Top-K, Nearest Neighbor Algorithms, Recommendation Algorithms and Evaluation Metrics for developing Tag- aware and Resource aware Recommender System to improve recommendation quality. All the algorithms were implemented and evaluated in Java, MYSQL and Eclipse. • Was responsible for conducting the users tudy, collecting the data in mysql tables and combining it with the live dataset from CITEULIKE to prepare a combined dataset for evaluating the nearest neighbor algorithms. • Tested the NNA algorithms with precision metric to evaluate quality of recommendation. For this we used top-3,5,10 categories of nearest neighbors. • Wrote Detailed design documents and prepared the use case and class diagrams with the help of rational rose. • Developed the Controller Servlets and JSP pages which load/display the data. • Configured the web application, log4j and all the spring configuration files. • Developed the Web services, which makes calls to all the environments and gets the status. • Designed and developed the log reader and filter/search mechanism. • Wrote various Java script functions which dynamically load/remove data into the tables and add some styling. • Developed the HTML and CSS files required. • Deployed the application on to the server and tested it. • Statistical analysis of dataset collected in terms of number of tags, resources /user or bookmark to understand the characteristics of data. • Designed a new metric called ratepercent to improve evaluation strategy. • Have designed a new nearest neighbor algorithm to handle the sparsity problem of user based collaborative filtering. • I am the primary author of the paper is in submission for ITNG 2010 conference in the Collaborative Social Network track and it has been accepted for publication
