Daily Duties at Reflexis Inc:

Description: Feasibility study to use semantic web and related technologies to reduce the sophistication and enhance the user friendliness of Reflexis suite of Retail Management Products. Responsibilities: • The Reflexis suite of Retail Management Products are used by different personnel in the organization like CEO, CIO, COO,VP for Merchandising, District or Regional Manager Director of Retail Labor Management, Store Manager, Loss Prevention Officer and others for making strategic decisions for the overall betterment and economic growth of the company. • My goal was to understand in depth how each of these applications (RTM, RWS, RTA, SW, KPI) help these personnel make those critical decisions. • The effort involved understanding how a Store Manager uses the suite of products to make his day to day decisions. • The next step was to understand what were some of the requirements of the Store Manager that the applications were not able to solve and understand how the existing system can be enhanced to take care of those additional functionalities. • The next step was to come up with a generic statements in spoken English with which the Store Manager could query the application. For each of these statements, keywords to query by are identified. • The next step is to come up with a prototype which will autosuggest to the store manager what hyperlinks to follow to answer his current query. Also a history of hyperlinks traversed will be maintained. Environment: Windows VISTA, Java, JSP, HTML
