Daily Duties at Electricities Of Nc, Inc.:

Responsible for monitoring and managing the Technical Services portion of an annual IT budget of approximately two million dollars, keeping record of not only recurring licensing and subscription dollars, but also meeting with supervisory and management individuals throughout the company to plan any expansions, upgrades, or additions to support all new and expanded business initiatives. Developed excellent working relationships with several local and out of state vendors when contracting for various services, coordinating the RFP and purchasing functions and vendor and consultant management for various projects that included equipment purchasing/leasing, infrastructure design and implementation, and data circuit installation and administration. Installed and configured a virtual environment using VMware and Clariion SAN equipment in 2006. All production systems were migrated from stand-alone to virtual servers. Significant cost savings and increased availability and performance were realized with the move to a virtual environment. Developed workstation and server platform standards for content, usage, and secure file and database access. These standards were maintained with policies delivered via Active Directory and NDS/Zenworks. Related policies for Internet usage, Instant Messaging, and file downloads were monitored and maintained using a combination of Barracuda web filtering devices and Solarwinds network monitoring systems. Managed in-house training for company staff in the areas of best practices for desktop and workstation organization, MS Office Suite, and hand-held data synchronization. Beginning courses were developed in-house, intermediate and advanced were contracted with professional instructors brought in to deliver courses on-site. IT staff training was accomplished using local training facilities and CBT where possible. Cross-training of all Technical Support staff was given high priority.
