Daily Duties at Multiple:
Biological: I have worked on numerous wildlife projects in Idaho and Oregon as an employee of state governments, and as a private contractor to the US Forest Service. I have collected field data for several bighorn sheep studies in a wilderness setting, adapted a line-transect method to census waterfowl and used radio telemetry and collected physiological data in studies of Vaux’s swifts, mountain quail, boreal owls, elk, bighorn sheep, and black bear. I have trapped and assisted immobilization of a number of species including bighorn sheep and black bear. I volunteered on a sooty shearwater study in New Zealand, and worked as an Observer Biologist on a Soviet fishing vessel in the Bering Sea monitoring compliance to US fishery regulations. General: I have worked as a sawyer and choker-setter on high lead logging operations in Idaho, and as a sawyer and ground-man on power line construction in Alaska. I have farmed using mule teams, and packed horses and mules in wilderness setting. I have been a bush pilot, and hunting and fishing guide in Alaska and Idaho. I have worked as a welding fabricator, roofer and carpenter. Additionally, I remodeled and finished two personal residences involving complete electrical and plumbing upgrades and all aspects of carpentry.
What they like about Multiple:
Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
