Daily Duties at The Nature Conservancy:

I worked as a team member implementing Conservation Action Plans at Conservancy sites throughout northeast Oregon. I managed GIS, invasive species, volunteers, facilities, hunters, public access, along with office, finance and contract administration. I supervised seasonal employees, large groups of volunteers, university students, AmeriCorps teams, Youth Conservation Corps teams and fire crews. I initiated and led many fire management activities in Northeast Oregon on TNC and governmental lands developing partnerships with the Department of Defense, Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, Oregon Department of Forestry, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and private landowners. Additionally I served on TNC’s Fire Training and Qualifications Team, and later on the Fire Management Advisory Team.

What they like about The Nature Conservancy:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
