Daily Duties at Raytheon Ti Systems:
Systems Engineer, Proposal: Developed specs for the day vision camera integrated into the FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared Radar) system. Utilized data fusion imaging processing technology for the Apache Helicopter. Worked on product development requirements definition & flow-down, allocation and specification plans. Airborne Systems: Algorithms based on target detection, identification, tracking, discrimination, and dissemination. Algorithms based on random processes (Bayesian Belief, Kalman Filter) analyzing and synthesizing legacy data. Documented, improved, and maintained a major system performance parameter, false alarm rate reduction. Successfully modified a design similar to low pass filtering without adversely affecting adjacent algorithms. Computations and design were made simple for real-time processor implementation. Final approved product was applied to the real-time embedded system as well as updating the Algorithm Description Document (ADD) Conducted monthly presentations to the customer and multi-organizational senior management. Signal Processor modeling: Designed a radar signal processor receiver simulation model based on requirements and ASIC design. Model designs were based on “Block Sims” to Verify “Chip Sims.” Performed a bit for bit compare against VHDL ASIC data output. Model accomplishments included: ¨ A model library, which included special custom “C-coded” blocks. ¨ Incorporated a vertical or hierarchical block design to the model simulator similar to high level coding. ¨ Designed and captured special test waveforms like “ramp of impulses” for factory test. ¨ Verified functions like auto-correlation, A to D conversion, over sampling, and pulse compression. ¨ Created a pseudo random noise generator to test memory functionality in the hardware. ¨ Created "round to even" symbolic block (algorithm) to average floating to fixed integer round error. ¨ Analyzed floating point to integer mantissa & exponent conversion errors. Multi-Beam Phased Array Sensor: Successfully analyzed error sensitivity of antenna in receive mode. Created LabVIEW virtual instrument models for our test team library. Characterized antenna performance by synthesizing Gain error sensitivity. Modeled the near field receive mode in the azimuth plane by utilizing transform theory and the total field of a dipole array. The vertical plane was approached by a Monte-Carlo method by others. Became familiar with detailed antenna design considerations such as amplitude patterns, aperture tapering, bandwidth, beam width, gain, and side lobe levels. Software Quality: Reviewed pre-flight and launch software for this special “fire and forget” focal plane array IR targeting system. Reviewed test procedures and witnessed formal testing in accordance with military specs and requirements. Reviewed simulator software and helped develop flight data database.
What they like about Raytheon Ti Systems:
The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
