Daily Duties at Salk Institute:
Led and managed independent and assigned research projects. Generated and presented sound data. Deduced the cardioprotective and hypertrophic actions of the ‘new’ urocortins in the heart. Identified co-receptors and adaptor molecules required for urocortin signaling. The work resulted in 7 peer-reviewed publications. Since identifying cardioprotective action of the Ucns against ischemic reperfusion injury, the peptides are now in clinical development at a San Diego company. Results from my research funded the laboratories research grants. Training and supervision of junior fellows.
