Daily Duties at Sun Trust Banks And Symcor Corporation:

• Managed the personnel, resources, and equipment of a multi-function, multi-shift, fast-pasted, production-oriented check and payment processing/imaging center-. The staff included exempt and supervisory personnel and a production staff with a headcount that was often over 100 people. Defined metrics and generated measurable goals to improve function effectiveness. Scope of authority also included, payroll and paid hour management, filing and following up on FMLA, Worker’s Comp, and long term & short term disability claims. • Managed the reconcilement and transaction posting (DDA and ACH) of personal and general ledger accounts. This included resolving issues through detailed research and developing relationships with clients by retaining a “Customer First” philosophy. • Managed a multi-million dollar budget and forecasted expenses within a +/- 1% tolerance while consistently operating under budget. Made a point of “Knowing the Numbers” and how they affected my cost-center’s financial bottom line. Use a Just In Time (JIT) procurement philosophy to keep expenses as exact as possible because this reduces our occupancy cost, therefore the cost per sq/ft is less. • Designed and implemented ergonomically sound workstations and processes. This solidified employee retention and increased production throughput. • Coordinated Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and other internal control procedures involving key financial and internal controls • Developed training materials and methods for many banking operation functions. • Consolidated five regional banking operations sites into one without sacrificing levels of service. Long term project that spanned over eight years. Decreased our employee headcount from 200 employees to 110 by the end of the last consolidation. • Maintained a Six-Sigma level of quality for 8 consecutive years. Defect ratio was just below 3.36/1,000,000 opportunities. • Assisted in the coordination and implementation of automating several functions within the banking operations industry- Example(s): Replaced micro-film with high-speed digital imaging software to house images of negotiable item;, Replaced conventional check processing where traditional 10-key data entry was required with a Character Recognition system that reads the script from negotiable items; Eliminated transportation costs involved with shipping processed checks to their home banks by incorporating and image exchange network, where the digital images of negotiable items were used instead of the originals • Implemented several quality improvements that saved $1,000,000’s millions of dollars. Examples include: Productivity increases (units produced per paid hour were in line with industry standards according to the annual “Global Concepts” efficiency studies), Headcount reduction (dollar savings in salaries, training, travel, and benefits); Quality improvements (cost savings due to decreased re-work and research); Reduced and often eliminated overtime hours where it was culturally acceptable in the past; Improved productivity and service quality by redesigning more ergonomically effective workstations and workflow floor plans; Set higher standards for productivity and quality. If it could be counted, I measured its significance against our goals; Dollars saved were allocated to other projects that caused savings in many other areas • Developed and executed innovative policies and procedures. Proven track record of increasing productivity, streamlining workflow, reducing expenses, and creating a team environment to improve employee engagement.
