Daily Duties at Nationwide Financial:

Directed all new business development efforts for a diverse retirement savings franchise, including market planning and product strategy and positioning. Supervised and managed a 16-person team in conducting research, developing business and market segmentation strategies, product development, and marketing efforts; provided product training and sales support for retirement accumulation and income products. Managed a $5 million annual budget. • Developed and launched company’s first Guaranteed Minimum Withdrawal Benefits product feature (GMWB), subsequently achieving annual sales increases of 30% and 20%, respectively, over the next two years. • Implemented a new product development and launch process to help increase organizational productivity and speed-to-market, including the utilization of conjoint analysis to quantify trade-offs between product features and consumer utility, allowing for a 20% increase in productivity and a 25% decrease in product launch time. • Conceptualized and implemented a new competitive intelligence function, providing timely product analysis to support product development and tactical competitive sales positioning efforts. • Created the industry’s first retirement income-risk efficient frontier methodology, which evaluated risk-return trade-offs and assisted in determining what portion of a retirement portfolio should be allocated to guaranteed income products, to optimize investment performance while reducing risk. Methodology allowed Nationwide wholesalers to better position themselves as retirement income consultants rather than just as product vendors.
