This program was designed to work in harmony with the community and the beat officers, redeployment of administrative personnel on a rotation basis to the drug locations helped reduce homicides and other violent crimes. I instituted and commanded the security, for the President of the United States Barrack Obama's residence and the surrounding community. I met regularly with the Special Agent in Charge for the Secret Service of the Chicago Office and Secret Service Officials from Washington D.C. I developed a plan to protect the President's residence while he was at home and in Washington D.C. This plan included having 15 officers, 3 Sergeants, a day work side by side with the agents to stabilize the residence and the surrounding area of one square mile. The only people that had access to this area were residents and their guest. I developed a catalogue of all the residents' names and phone numbers and addresses. Any person approaching a checkpoint would be questioned by my Officers and verified through the catalogue. Extreme measures were set in motion and I had several community meetings with the residents in which I included their input as part of my plan. This operation was 24 hours a day 7 days a week and lasted for 14 months. The end result is that all the residents were extremely satisfied with measures that were in place and the President, his family and residence are safe. I received an award from the Secret service for my plan. I instituted and Commanded security for the President Obama's Presidential transition office. This office was located in the downtown area of Chicago in the Federal building. I designed a new traffic pattern that surrounded the building, establishing checkpoints to allow deliveries to be made to local business and to secure the building from any potential harm to the President and his staff. This operation consisted of 3 Sergeants and 30 Officers under my Command. The operation lasted for four months. I command and redeveloped, security for Headquarters. I reduced the manpower that guarded headquarters and redeployed them to street duty. This was accomplished through new training and more accountability by the officers detailed to secure Headquarters. The training that I implemented was designed to be both effective and cost saving. I command and redeveloped security for Officers assigned to various elected Officials. Officers assigned to protect elected officials were accumulating overtime; I revised their schedules and combined their duties to reduce overtime. I met with the elected officials and developed a plan; I have reduced the overtime by 75% and did this without jeopardizing the safety of the Officials. I commanded the medical section for the police department. The unit has nurses, police officers and case managers that make appointments for sick or injured police personnel.
