Daily Duties at Cargill:
Corn Syrup Specialist: Train and supervise the corn syrup analysts and chemists, troubleshoot corn syrup production process, perform experiments for streamlining and improving production, write SOPs for analytical testing, job descriptions, and process troubleshooting and develop new testing procedures for new instruments such as NIR and liquid NIR. Maintain instruments including HPLC, pH meter, osmometer, UV/Vis, AA. Worked on a multi-departmental team to optimize corn syrup production to meet customer demands, production demands, and shutdown issues. Participate in customer and regulatory audits as well as conducting monthly sanitation audits. Member of the plant safely comittee. Chemist: Monitor corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup production process including in process and final batch analysis as well as truck loadout analyses. Determine enzyme treatments for batch tanks based on production schedules and reaction times. Extensive use of HPLC, pH meters, osmometers, UV/Vis, and AA. Team Leader: Same as chemist but with additional supervision of 5 on-shift chemists. Position eliminated with reduction of on-shift chemists to 2.
