Daily Duties at The George 1 Repatriation Project:
As founder and executive director I direct the day to day planning and logistics that will launch 2 expeditions to Antarctica to recover the well-preserved frozen bodies of 3 US Navy aircrew from up to 150 feet below the surface of a remote glacier. At the request of the surviving families, due to my Greenland experience in the recovery of the Lost Squadron’s WWII P-38 Lighting, the Department of Defense considers me the “expert” in deep glacier recoveries.” I am consultant to and advise the Secretary of the Navy, the Chief of Naval Personnel, the Department of Defense Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command and their senior staffs. Also for the families I work with 46 US Congressionals lobbying to change repatriation law and to mandate and fund the recovery. My consultations with senior National Science Foundation, NASA, NASA/Jet Propulsion Lab, US Geological Survey scientists and administrators have resulted in their project viability endorsement. A briefing to the DoD Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command resulted in their offer to Navy to underwrite the cost of the first expedition. I’ve recruited the “boots on the ground” teams as well as fundraising experts on both coasts. I act as a consultant to the Fallen American Veterans Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors. I also work with Hollywood producers on the production of a docudrama recreating the actual events of the original mission to flash back and forth with actual recovery expeditions footage. Total projected budget of a two-phase civilian venture is $11.7M. For a military operation the budget is $2.1M.
