Daily Duties at Capital Group Companies:

Ensure the Data Center processing environment remains operational continuously(24x7). Also, responsible for managing Data Center issues and problems to include root cause analysis. Managed approximately a staff of 20 team members consisting of computer operators, production control analysts and technicians and interns. As a member of AFCOM (American Confederation of Computer Operation Managers), frequently attended seminars to seek new technologies, ideas, equipment and share them with peers. Experienced in a critical/fast paced batch processing environment meeting SLA,s on a daily basis. In addition, meeting online availability requirements and support of over 5000 users (domestic & overseas) with both intranet/internet and remote connectivity. Because of the nature of my business, I had users at any time of the day. Working knowledge utilizing a PC based problem tracking tools for batch (Omegamon) and network. Created policies and procedures for managing the IT department which included escalation procedures, training, naming standards, run instructions, implementation procedures and security. This made life for console operators a whole lot easier. Prior experience as a Lead Operator, Production Support and Operations Analyst, Supervisor with project, change, problem and facilities management. Ability to fill in during unexpected staff shortages. Familiar with MVS/UNIX, operating environments, IBM OS/390, HP open-view, WIN XP, NT, 2000, JCL, Utilities, automated tape library CA-1, scheduling subsystem CA-7, auto restart CA-11, Oracle, NDM, SQL, Lotus Notes, Info/Sys, Remedy, VTAM, CICS, IMS, DB2. Exposure and interfaced with Market Data Vendor services (Reuters, Bloomberg, Statestreet, and assorted banks). Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer. Highly effective leadership and people management skills (mentoring/coaching). Excellent business judgment and prompt decision-making ability. Creative, analytical and service oriented. Skilled in performance review writing and interviewing skills. Maintained security both in the main Data Center and remote site (unattended). Prepared work schedules to meet holidays, vacations, unplanned staff shortages, new system implementations. I was a hands-on person and provided production support, problem resolution, technical assistance and interfaced with other departments. After normal business hours, assumed HELP Desk responsibilities and network monitoring. Identified and resolved different issues such as; security (NT, Novel, NDS remote access and ACF2), desktop, hardware and network outages. Managed IT equipment and supplies. Troubleshooted hardware, software, network problems and implemented solutions. Managed vendor relations for products installed in the production and test environments. Established good working relationships. Coordinated semi-annual meetings with application manages and lead staff to improve methods of processing and discuss areas of concern. Shared responsibilities for two successful data center moves. One from Los Angeles to San Antonio, and then a few years later to a new site within the city, which was transparent to the user community. Assisted in the development and support of a Hot-Site Disaster Recovery center for the organization and monitored unattended site. Collaborated with other technical and application teams to implement a change/problem management methodology for the company. Developed Computer Operations personnel to achieve and maintain a high degree of technical skills and improve batch-processing performance. Identified weaknesses and areas for improvement. Liaison with overseas markets (Asia and Europe) in support of international network, transmissions, and HELP desk functions. Developed good working relationships with clients/users where English was their second language. Experienced using network tools (ManageX, CIM, TNM, Network6000, NCCF) for monitoring LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, IPX, ETHERNET and Servers. Generated regular management service level reports for distribution to high level users, and other business information; developed ad hoc reports.
