Daily Duties at Appalachian State University:

- Monitoring the telemetry system screen while patients worked out - Prepping the patient with their telemetry unit before exercise - Reading and interpreting medical records of each incoming patient - Writing exercise prescriptions for incoming patients, including interpretation of the exercise test to determine the patient’s HRR (Heart Rate Reserve) and therefore the patient’s target HR zone - Prepping the patient with their telemetry unit before exercise - Running the weight training sessions with the patients - Taking blood pressure measurements while patient is at rest and exercising - Measuring blood glucose of diabetic patients before and after exercise - Cleaning up the training records of patient’s after their work out - Putting together folders for new, incoming patients - Monitoring patients while they worked out (RPE, Angina levels, etc.) - Being aware of the patient’s medications and how those medications are affected when combined with exercise - Managing the other students during the classes that I ran  Prepping the patients for a 12-Lead ECG  Conducting and Managing Spirometry Tests with each patient  Choosing protocols (exercise modes) depending on each patient’s medical history  Measuring ventilatory gas exchange numbers while patient participates in exercise testing  Monitoring ECG for abnormalities  Monitoring RPE and Angina levels in each patient  Measuring BP during the test and at rest  Interpreting the results from the test ( AT levels, ECG abnormalities, RER levels, and VO2
