Daily Duties at Genstar/Triton/Itel Container Companies:

In the early 80's the shipping container leasing companies began to explore the possibility of sales and rentals of containers domestically. I was hired as the first manager to try to develop this market. I creatively marketed the idea to several large retailers and shipping companies. My efforts resulted in the first large scale domestic rental fleet of containers to a major retailer. That retailer was Fred Meyer. What I accomplished has been duplicated through out the country with Walmart, K-mart, Costco and hundreds of other retailers. My efforts took me from Itel to Genstar to Triton as these companies would sell out, I was always retained to continue the domestic business. My knowledge of the local market and the international flow of freight enabled me to stay ahead of trends in pricing or practice. In short, my offices did not experience the ebb and flow normally seen due to seasonal fluctuations. I managed my latest branch office before it was sold from 100,000 in sales annually to over 2 million dollars per year.

What they like about Genstar/Triton/Itel Container Companies:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
