Daily Duties at Ashmore Energy International:
Caribbean region reporting liaison between region manager and accountants. Responsible for performing financial accounting, reporting and analysis for Dominican Republic and Nicaraguan power plants and a Venezuelan gas distribution company. Heavy interface with auditors (internal compliance, external tax, SOX and annual FS audit) •Served as SUN Super User to facilitate conversion from SAP to SUN (tested data and trained other users) •Accounting coordinator of $50+ million Caribbean region annual budget process •Created reports for management as needed including project-level monthly results book for region manager; pushed down results book to all international assets for monthly updating and variance explanations thereby improving communications and information flow between local and corporate management •Published monthly Caribbean book for region manager including project and holding company–level results summarized by an Excel bridge that provided clear progression from project to consolidated results (involved reviewing input of accountants and tying to accounting system prior to release) •Provided monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages to corporate management for consolidation, evaluation and audit purposes, which ensured accurate and timely reports for the Board of Directors •Provided accounting oversight of international subsidiaries that resulted in additional accounting control and ensured financial integrity of subsidiary US GAAP results •Reviewed/approved daily USD international wires and reserved necessary funds to assist Treasury in daily cash position. Improved approval process by utilizing email to transmit images and eliminating faxes which often were illegible or lost on department fax. Email notifications reduced wire processing time significantly •Performed monthly close process for assets and holding companies, performed account reconciliations resulting in compliance with company policies and procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements •Researched and applied current US GAAP (FAS 115 resulted in valuation adjustment and FIN 46 resulted in consolidation of Dominican Republic asset) •Built financial close models in Excel and pushed down to local companies thereby streamlining monthly close process in SAP as well as project-level reporting. Implemented SUN wrapper which enabled international assets to upload results into SUN resulting in efficiencies of operations •Traveled to international asset locations to improve relations and better prepare them for internal audits. •Prepared footnote disclosures and data room information enabling potential buyers to perform necessary due diligence in bidding processes. Prepared audit schedules which facilitated a three year audit •Facilitated receipt of $15+ million from JV partnerships by negotiating reimbursable expenses
