Daily Duties at Savi Technology:
• Built, mentored, and managed a 14 member team necessary to supplement a highly understaffed (3 members) team responsible for design verification of all projects, configuration management, engineering tool license maintenance, and lab management. • Replaced inconsistent software deliveries with a consistent Configuration Management process consisting of a single delivery point reducing wasted test cycles and application reviews by 40%. • Established metrics (requirements coverage, functional coverage, path coverage, code coverage, defect rate that reflected the project status throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) replacing metrics that were only available later in the project resulting in an early warning system and transparency of project performance. • Reduced the test cycle from 4 months to 1 month by partnering the Quality Engineers with the Software Engineers early in the SDLC and adding test automation for regression testing (Quick Test Pro -- QTP and custom automation tools) that were kicked off automatically on software builds. • Replaced a diverse, highly distributed, document collection approach with a centralized common repository (StarTeam) and consistent Configuration Management process resulting in 0% wasted time due to out of date document references. • Architected and deployed a consistent test environment for engineering, QA and Design Verification that replacing reduced, inconsistent, test beds where defects could not be reproduced. This resulted in better coverage prior to delivery, confidence that the product would not fail in the field and a reduction of sustaining efforts by 75%. • Collaborated with Product Management (Marketing), Customer Service, Engineering, Tech Pubs, and QA for each project to ensure requirements were met. • Introduced McCabe IQ metrics, path and code coverage analysis Modified Condition/Decision Coverage (MC/DC) that greatly assisted in detecting firmware problems without hardware available and removed 90% of all product defects (in the firmware) prior to hardware delivery to engineering.
