Manage technical staff encompassing mainframe and storage professionals •Tasked to oversee and execute broad-based IT responsibilities derived from IT Roadmap. •Utilize project management standards and MS Project to direct and oversee critical enterprise wide project initiatives •Planned and executed facilities upgrades including UPS replacement and electrical redesign •Project manager and technical leader chosen to plan/execute disaster recovery tests at remote location. •Coordinate and successfully negotiate vendor contracts and support services for mainframe budget. •Prepared annual fiscal year budget encompassing mainframe hardware and software. •Pursued all cost savings paths available to accumulate over $1M in verifiable savings •Create management justification/city council reports for capital procurement. •Assumed responsibility as Project Manager and Technical Lead for replacement of mainframe hardware and cabling during 2 hardware upgrades. •Configure system components using HCD. •Manage IPL profiles, hardware storage configuration and OSA card configuration using HMC. •Configure storage allocation/archive using IBM SMS and CA-Allocate software •Launched and spearheaded Engineer-level System Programmer training program. Above led to demonstrated success through higher levels of responsibility assigned Engineers. •Initiated cross-training with Network Services Team on infrastructure upgrade project to expand personal knowledge base. •Planned and launched dataset naming standards, software installation and propagation standard. •Conduct research, testing and documentation for justification and software/hardware acquisitions requirements. •Ensure highest quality system support for all mainframe and storage related issues/activities at City of Mesa •Appointed Mainframe Team Lead for Disaster Recovery team, IT Platform Standards team, Infrastructure Change Control team (ITIL) and Technical Road map Initiative •Provided RACF technical support for Security Team. •Install Microsoft patches on monthly basis per security evaluation team. •Project manager and technical lead for operating system software upgrade/migration to OS/390 2.9, OS/390 2.10, z/OS 1.4, z/OS 1.7 and lead for EMC Symmetrix DASD replacement and Virtual Tape System implementation. •Managed porting of 3490 ATL migration to virtual tape environment using Bustech MDL technology with HP EVA back end storage. •Spearheaded upgrade of mainframe processor to IBM z890 processor.
