Daily Duties at Valero Energy Company:

Provide technical assistance in resolving equipment design, operations and maintenance problems and to ensure safety and reliability of refinery equipment o Assisted in providing engineering services, such as mechanical equipment design, inspection data analysis, equipment repair plan development, material selection, root cause analysis of mechanical or corrosion related failures and developing recommended maintenance practices. o Performed engineering calculations – determinate statics, mechanical stress (normal, shear, bending, hoop) fluid flow, heat transfer and remaining life projections. Analyze and interpret pertinent inspection data to determine equipment life and develop repair and improvement plans. o Worked during planned 2 week maintenance shut down of the Crude 6 unit, assisting with unit inspection and repairs and coordinating with contractors a strict timetable for parts refurbishing and installation o Design and install new projects and inspect and monitor repairs to processing units to ensure work is done to plan and adheres to all required engineering specifications and to required codes o Developed cost effective recommendations for repairs and material selection (designed a steam coil, built by contractor within budget to specifications utilized in sulfur pit) for reliability improvement o Issued recommendations for equipment maintenance plans and improved maintenance practices
