Daily Duties at Servotronics:

Project Engineer Project Engineer for highly critical components used to control multiple platforms such as jet engines. Responsibilities included design, application, manufacturing engineering, managing work flow of 8 direct reports, 10 indirect employees, new hire training, shop floor scheduling, vendor evaluation/selection, & MRP scheduling/delivery. Key Accomplishments: Process Improvement • Designed new component mating methods used to increase production capacity from 800 units to over 1200 units/year, increasing program revenue by $700,000.00 (to $1.4 million/yr). • Reduced scrap material by $50,000/yr by initiating/managing project teams for new fixtures. • Designed & implemented manufacture processes increasing overall part acceptance to 90% & retrained staff on new more efficient production methods. • Developed new post production processing techniques reducing cleaning time by over 36 hours & eliminated toxic chemicals along with their hazardous waste disposal costs. Quality Assurance & Management • Passed 6 ISO 9001, 3 customer, & 2 FAA audits for both military/civilian programs. • Integrated all germane quality system requirements like, customer, AS9001, FAA, & ISO 9001. • Lobbied customer to change part form, fit and production methods, boosting quality. Used 5S, & Pareto Charts to track 1 change & reduced its’ turn back rate from 75% to1%. • Wrote Engineering Instructions & test procedures, greatly improving ISO 9001 compliance. • Documented quality status, dispositioned non-conforming materials, filed corrective actions & used other continuous improvement methods to eliminate persistent problems. • Used various statistical techniques like Control charts to identify, modify and track out of control processes resulting in reducing both part level & assembly level scrap rates. Program Management • Expanded production demand & capacity from 1 to 2 shifts creating over 5 new jobs. • Moved stagnant prototype from design to production securing companies’ market share in a multi-year contract for over $200,000 of first year sales. • Trained new hires on highly technical/critical processing & taught failure mode corrections. • Directly earned company $45,000 in 1 month by learning & performing all production methods, machine shop tasks, & inspection techniques required to cover staffing shortfalls.
