Daily Duties at Directv:
Managed a staff of 27 technicians that supported 200+ channels of digitally compressed programming utilizing MPEG 2 transport. Responsible for the maintenance and on-air availability of a 24X7 broadcast facility. This included all RF, Baseband and compression equipment. Major equipment consisted of four 13-Meter full auto-track Ka-Band uplink antennas one Torus 7 Meter multi-beam receive only and eight steerables. Twenty nine 10+ channel compression systems, multiple analog and serial digital routers. An essential element in bringing them on air in 1994 as the lead technical engineer in Castle Rock and shortly promoted to Manager. Position also included Systems Engineering, Project Management, equipment specification and purchasing. Managed a multi-million dollar annual budget.
