Daily Duties at Ge Money:

Supported several major application upgrades, including high availability remote site failover, web conversion, a card processor conversion. Implemented SunOne, IBM Websphere, Apache Web Servers, supporting business needs. Implemented HP Openview for server monitoring, and Autosys job scheduling, added 5 RAC and several failover Cluster solutions. Helped to create an L5 Disaster recovery solution at a second site and added Oracle RAC to our Disaster Recovery processes. Earlier, worked with Solaris 8-10 & Sun servers that support a credit card data environment. Responsible for server setup and configuration in a multi-site, multi-tiered client/server environment containing 18 local and 15 remote servers, 3 High Availibility Veritas clusters and over 2 TB of disk capacity. Implemented a new backup architecture & Disaster Recovery strategy for site. Worked on a few Six Sigma Greenbelt (quality improvement) projects, which included software defect tracking, User Accounts and Authentication, Server Consolidation, Disk Layout Improvements. Before that, worked with Perl, Java SFTP, XML & HTML to convert mastercard data into form for internally developed client/server and Web applications. Most of this was converting mainframe COBOL applications to save processing time reduce processing and storage costs. With Perl worked on modules that used DBI and CGI functions. Used Sun's JDK 1.3, Oracle 7.3, Sybase 11, Oracle 7-9 and Solaris 2.6-9. Provided Server specifications and purchase rationale for new servers.
