Daily Duties at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc.:

Responsible for managing the placement of all 35 corporate P&C programs with approximately 150 policies/carrier participations, over $2 billion in total limits and over $20 million in annual premium, not including self insured losses. • Provide Strategic Advice - Support the Vice President and Director of Corporate Risk Management regarding the dynamic and diverse responsibilities of the department. • Team Leadership - Responsible for the performance and professional development of two (2) Risk Managers and one (1) Risk Analyst who assist in analyzing and placing insurance programs and perform various risk related projects. Ensure that each employee is provided individual as well as group feedback and provide mentoring support. Model and ensure the desired department culture is collaborative, tactical, practical, and strives to add value to the enterprise. Serve various internal clients with uncompromising professionalism and skill. • Establish and Maintain Controls - Develop process to track individual and group insurance company aggregations to ensure spread of risk among acceptable carriers. Create and manage process to ensure underwriting and claims data that is to be shared with various writing companies (insurers) is protected by a non-disclosure agreement. • Program Marketing and Program Placement - Oversee the collection of various required renewal data and prepare actual application documents for internal approval and signature. Conduct individual application reviews with key internal customers to ensure proper information is collected and accurately explained to the insurance markets. Develop and utilize a renewal “milestone report” that establishes a timeline for various key achievements for each program renewal. Identify target markets for each program which takes into consideration carrier aggregation, policy language, carrier expertise and financial strength in compliance with department controls. Advise and prepare members of senior management who will be presenting to underwriters during program renewal meetings/discussions. Ensure quotes, binders, and policies are received on a timely basis and thoroughly reviewed for compliance with all agreed upon goals and objectives for each program. • Operational Oversight/Activities - create and maintain annual insurance premium budget documents and provide analysis of performance to budget as required by management. Advise HFSG’s procurement department regarding vendor insurance requirements, provide insurance and risk technical support to HFSG’s sales personnel on business proposals and RFP’s. Liaison with professional associations (ICRMG, RIMS, e.g.). Annual presentation on the subject of “Risk Management at The Hartford” to the select group of underwriters during the “Underwriting Immersion Group” training session.
